Hi Tony,

I've had the same problem.

The BT website is geared up to keep people like us who previously signed up for broadband and digital voice from automatically moving to a contract that's being offered to new joiners for a lot less.

You need to call 0800 800 150 and tell them you wish to stay with BT but on a new contract as advertised on their website.

If you have any difficulties you should tell them you are thinking of leaving BT and ask to be connected to the "retention line".

It's obvious why they do it but I'm sure it's discriminatory and illegal under trading standards, although there's sure to be some fine print somewhere that I haven't seen.

Good Luck.

Broadband Prices

Hi, I have been looking into changing my broadband package to save money. I am a BT customer but out of contract.

I searched my account to find out what deals were available. It came back with over £72 and said, "We do not recommend this!"

That offer has now gone, so I went onto BT broadband deals and came up with Fibre 2 for £34.99, including Digital Voice. I went through the process of making an order, but at the last minute, it made me sign onto my BT account, and the price changed from £34.99 to £62.99, so I did not proceed, thinking it was a blip.

I tried again yesterday, and the same happened, so I rang BT, who could not offer a reason and kept asking where I got the £34.99 from. It was BT's own broadband deals. In the end, I got nowhere. They offered me a reduced price on my Broadband, but nowhere near the £34.99. I said to them, do I have to leave BT completely and then join, which would be a faff? But they did not comment.

Does anyone know why this pricing difference happens?

BT has just removed the BT Cloud and seems to be giving less for more £.

Sorry this is so long winded.
