I have downloaded the price guides from BT and EE only to discover that they are maximum prices and insanely expensive. These must be negotiable otherwise no-one would subscribe to these tariffs so be firm and negotiate a cheaper deal compared with what you are paying now.

Hi, my Broadband is up for renewal and the price I’ve been offered is £20 more expensive than most other networks and £20 more expensive than an offer BT is offering. Is it worth discussing this with BT to get a better offer or just cancel my contract and go elsewhere?

Sadly isp's don't appear that bothered about retaining existing customers. If your happy with BT'S broadband then simply run down this contract and join plusnet...exactly the same as what you experience now but cheaper.

Once BT realise you're serious about leaving they'll probably come back to you with a acceptable offer. But you must be prepared to leave

Are your offers from looking at MyBT? These can range from completely ridiculous to very good. I have just re-contracted on-line with the broadband being 30p cheaper although I had to move to unlimited calls from 700 minutes but it was still cheaper overall than the out of contract price by £2.

My own FTTP 900 Broadband is up for renewal in April. I've been keeping an eye on the upgrade and EE cross-grade prices for a while. I was very much in the camp that this is silly expensive compared to some other providers. But as my renewal gets closer, the prices I'm being offered just keep dropping, to the point where they're almost competitive enough to make me stay.

We'll see, I'm still of a mind to switch, it'll come down to whether that final price is enough to make me lazy!

The other thing to consider is do you need 900? Currently I am on 75Mbs speed and stream Netflix and Amazon Music with no problems. If you do gaming a higher speed is recommended.

I've just checked to upgrade prices, and the cross-grade to EE, for me at least is now in the green zone and the price difference between 900 & 500 is (as it was when I joined BT) negligible!

*Total number of devices connected by WiFi to my 3rd-party router maxes out at just 38, there are a similar number of Smart Devices connected to hubs - including working matter/threads! Purpose of the smarts being comfort, security, and automation - ie they're mostly transparent.
