Vulnerable parent out of contract / overpaying

Hello, my father has motor neuron disease and has been out of contract with BT broadband for many years. I found out he is paying about £100 a month for basic broadband. I've tried to encourage him to renegotiate a more reasonable package or new contract as this is extortionate, however due to his condition he does not understand and worried he will lose service.

Is there anyway I can ask BT to change his package or offer him something more reasonable as he is vulnerable and I feel this is very unfair? Thank you

Unless you have Power of Attorney for your father you will not be able to change or cancel his Broadband package.

You could however act on his behalf when you call BT if he is able to give his permission to to the BT Customer Service rep when you call to allow you to do that.

Thank you, I don't have power of attorney and he won't give permission as doesn't want to change as worried he will lose his BT email or service / doesn't understand he can change to a new contract for the same package but pay less. So was wondering if I could register him as a vulnerable person to prompt BT to review his contract as don't like the thought of him significantly overpaying. But seems I can't.

You can register him but again you would need to get his permission for you to act on his behalf.
