Bill states "Fibre 1" but the price charged looks more like Full Fibre

Just got a rare paper bill from BT, (end of contract).

On the front it states "Fibre 1 £43.35", on the back it says "Fibre 1 £31.99/month" from March of next year.

The price I'm being charged for Fibre 1 looks like the Full Fibre price which is "£44.99" from March of next year.

My online bill also states I am currently being charged "Fibre 1: £43.35/month".

Am I being overcharged for Fibre 1 broadband ?.

There will always be different offers going on - your sign up paperwork will have the price you have agreed to (Adding in any price changes that come along in April)

Also there may be a discount which was applied for your contract term which has now expired - you would need to look back on your online bills or speak to the billing team at BT in order to check if you are unsure and cannot find the info from the paperwork

You haven’t said, but how long had you been in that contract for? Have you now ceased being a BT customer completely?

If for example, you’ve been a customer for a number of years and not taken any notice or action as regards negotiating pricing, then obviously as each year goes by, you’ll get the usual joke annual price increases until eventually you discover you’re paying a lot more than a ‘new customer’. This is why some people (myself included), switch ISP every two years because of new customer pricing deals and rewards cards. I’m currently paying only £2 a month more for 500mbps than I was 4 years ago.

There is no price difference between F1 on FTTP or FTTC , no one is charged more for ‘full fibre’, but as stated prices are dynamic and change all the time , added to that the availablity of individual‘deals’ means pricing is difficult to keep abreast of .
If your ‘notice’ is not because you have quit for another supplier , or just decided to leave , but the end of contract notification, then £43 may be the price you will start to pay outside your minimum term , and £32 is what you could pay if recontracting, if the notice is your ‘final bill’ then the final bill much like the first bill of any contract can be much different to regular bills .

Guilty as charged. I'll try haggling with BT to see if I can get a better deal.

Eureka: My £43.35 "Fibre 1" package was "out of contract". Apparently that justifies a 55% surcharge 😠

How do you think ISP’s are able to give much lower prices to new customers? I’m the most cynical bloke I know but I reckon they bank on customers who adore loyalty to their provider so much, they couldn’t care less how much they get charged and so, the extra you are paying for the sheer convenience of not switching or haggling, gives newbie’s those well deserved rewards!

The annual price hikes across the board are an absolute joke imo.
