Your price increases are not in line with the annual price increases , when you took your ‘contract’ out , it will have shown the built in annual increases (currently £4 on broadband and £2 on TV packages )
What are your products called (like Fibre 2 as an example of a broadband product) and post the prices for each product you have , and when you took out the contract , as unless you were getting some sort of 50% off for 6months type deal that’s expired , it’s difficult to see how £40 for broadband and TV can double to £80 , that’s even if you have a 24 month deal and increases were added each March , at current price increases that would be £40 your initial price then £12 for two years of increases (2x£4 broadband increase and 2x£2 TV package increase ) and it was £3 not £4 for broadband contract taken before July 2025

I reckon there is must be more to this than you have so far indicated

I was going to leave 2 years ago and called bt, I could no longer afford phone, tv and broadband....went up steadily to nearly ,£90 a month during the proceeding years, for a 1 person household!! Discussed an eventually offered 39.99 without phone, no frills tv and band . Now my bills have been hovering around 80 now 83 this month. I don't do gaming, my usage is mainly bband for phone and tv + netflix. I am not a heavy user at all! They are fleecing me! Help!

Thanks

I have just been through the last 15 months of bills and in dec.24 I was charged 68.81 and then in the following 3 months it went up to 79.81 which it had stayed at apart from once when it hit 83 due to adjustment of pricing.

So it seems that it is the pricing of packages, there are no other details except that.

If I go back to them they will just say that's the prices of the packages and I will have to switch. Seems there is no difference between prices in a family household and single occupants.

No one is commenting on ‘fairness’ , and no one offers better deals for singletons compared to families , how on earth could that ever be verified.

‘basic’ EETV entertainment and Netflix currently is £2 for 6months then £24 after the March increase ( £24 that’s a more realistic price to base comparisons on ) add approx £30 for F2 broadband, that’s around £54 after the offer has expired, and could be considered a ‘fair’ price , hence asking you precisely what you have and what you pay .

The point is that the packages are too broad, good value for those who have higher usage but hefty for low usage.

I have fairly basic needs!

You need to stop everything such as Netflix and the TV package and just get a basic Broadband no landline package.

It does not matter if you are only low usage, you are not on a "Pay as you use" package. They don't exist, at least not with BT.

If you want a TV package, even if you only watch one TV program you will pay the same as someone who watches 24/7 which according to your Bill is costing you £27.33 per month.

If your contract is due for renewal, contact BT and speak to someone about it.

Do not be swayed by any sales talk and be aware that is you are still in a contract it is unlikely that you will be able to downgrade to a lesser package without taking out a new contract and paying cancellation fees

£52.58 is your broadband cost ( going up by £4 at the end of March as everyones broadband price does ) , hence the increase in the assumed bill next month , but that is quite expensive for just broadband , you were asked to state what products you have , I suspect that whatever speed broadband you have it probably has Halo added, or you pay extra for Unbreakable broadband and ‘whole home WiFi’ the main components of Halo which quite easily turns an average broadband price into one over £50 , so it’s likely you are paying £20+ for that optional benefit.

Hopefully without sounding too patronising, you agreed to adding extras like Halo , so clearly you will pay more than someone with a basic broadband package , and similarly paying nearly £30 for TV is not a basic TV either , basic TV is free to air like Freeview.
If out of contract , you can negotiate a better price , check what a new customer would pay and use that as a guide , but without knowing exactly what you get for your money it can’t be known if the price you currently pay is good or bad, but if saving money is the most important thing , removing extras in your broadband (assuming you do have them) and removing ‘pay TV’ your bill could easily be around the £30-£34 area, not £80+.

You initially said you wanted ‘no frills’ , if that’s the case , get rid of everything but basic broadband, but if you value the extras you have and want to keep them , then you can’t expect to pay the same as someone with basic broadband.

Welcome to the community.

I understand your post was more aimed at advice from other users, but if you'd like someone to look over your account, I recommend speaking with our customer support team.
