New contract

I am currently out of contract.

I am about to go to DV in two weeks, all fine from that point of view.

I have today tried three times to get some sense in that I have asked what the costs would be if I signed up to a new contract and what options are available for a landline together with costs.

I am told because there is an open order (the change to DV in two weeks) I cannot be given any figures for a new contract until that order is closed.

Is this for real?

Does BT wish to retain me as a customer I wonder?

Anyone with any suggestions please.

How long have you been out of contract ? , you received notification of the upcoming expiry beforehand , and generally that also includes offers to renew , have you looked for these emails ( assuming email is how you receive your BT communications )

If you don’t have Halo , there shouldn’t really be any problem getting pretty close to whatever the new customer price is for the speed profile /call package etc, although if you are somehow still on a legacy call plan , Evenings, Evenings&Weekends , or Anytime , you woukd need to move to a current plan PAYG or Unlimited Minutes, if you are keeping telephone ( presumably you are if converting to DV )

People seem to think things are always that easy

To answer the OP oo ask them to cancel the migration order then they can look at options

Strange enough I did not get any emails or any offers at all the contract just ended.

And I left it that way because my village has just had fibre installed to the main roads and full fibre will happen sometime so I didn't want to sign up and commit for 24 months. So I have let it run and pay I admit a few more pounds each month.

It seems most odd to me that I can go to any other provider and they will happily quote me but BT will not simply because an order which they placed to put me onto DV is open.

Anyway, BT will lose me as a result.

Yes that would appear to be the case that an open order of any kind inhibits anything else.

Most odd.

But thank you for confirming this.

You're existing BT contract did note dust when you reached end of fixed term you automatically move to a rolling monthly contract and lose any discount which you had
