Once upon a time, the Moderators on here could arrange an ORDI for BT customers, but that seems something they can no longer do , so it’s a case of calling the general enquiry number and hopefully getting an understanding representative.

Hi

Apologies for asking a question that may have been asked before but I am trying to organise a change to my broadband but, when I search for my property, the address is still showing up as the plot address from the original build in 2015. I believe I need to submit a request to have the address updated via Openreach.

Is there a specific email address or contact details that I should use for this please?

Thanks in advance 🙂

where are you searching that shows the plot number ?
Who is your current provider ?
Do any of the neighbouring addresses appear as plot numbers or is it just your address ?

Is there a duplicate entry for your address , the plot number listed but also the house number ?

Hi. When I search by postcode or 1st line of address on any broadband search systems and it only brings up the plot address, as it does for all of the neighbours. There is no duplicate address on there - they are plots for all of the street.

So all the addresses show plot numbers on the broadband company sites you looked at , but the Royal Mail site has the correct postal address , which seems odd as the Royal Mail is the organisation that supply’s the postal addresses to other companies that need a comprehensive set of national addresses ….although it’s not ideal if you want to swap providers why don’t you use the plot number ?

This mismatch , when it’s specifically Openreach based providers, is usually something that an ORDI ( Openreach data integrity) check can resolve, but it’s the current provider that would need to approach Openreach , you never answered if BT are your provider, BT would only be interested if you were their customer , so if it is BT you could contact them , although this isn’t a regular request so you may explain otherwise the representative may not be ‘au fait’ with this , obviously if BT are not your provider call whoever it is you use .

Thanks for that. Yes, BT are my current provider but I wasn’t sure how to go about having this updated or what to ask for (in case, as you mention, someone isn’t knowledgeable on it, and if I don’t know what I’m asking for either then we’re in a mess really). Is there a contact which would be better than just the general details to use?
