@chrisjp If you switch from BT to Plusnet or from EE to Plusnet you do get new customer pricing and also qualify for any Reward Card offers, but you don’t qualify for either swapping between BT/EE because technically, it’s exactly the same company just with the smoke and mirrors branding. I therefore only ever swap between Plusnet and one or the other, though to be fair, I’ve never yet been a EE customer but that is likely to change next April.

It is with great regret that I am leaving BT after 25 years plus, I will no longer be paying for empty promises and miss selling of products, as older customers get a raw deal when upgrading and new customers get the best rates, and before you all have a go I understand why they do it, it’s just unfair that you don’t get the same deal, discrimination that’s all it is under a different name would you get compensation for not getting your guaranteed speed for the last 6 weeks or so, I have tested the line speed to my hub and it has never been higher than 42 and that was only on two occasions, I should get 49 guaranteed

@picktech Whatever you do, don’t feel in any way sad about leaving. Remember, BT like all ISP’s are a business, it has to make money, for reinvestment, profit and dividends for the shareholders. For every customer that leaves, another immediately joins. Loyalty certainly doesn’t count for anything. Think of yourself and your pocket. Yes, some of us do switch every two years and it really isn’t any hassle to be honest. Service, well some ISP’s are better than others. I only switch between the BT Group so the service never differs, but what I do get every two years, is new customer pricing.

Good luck going forward 👍

"I only switch between the BT Group so the service never differs, but what I do get every two years, is new customer pricing."

I thought if you switched between BT Group ISPs (BT, EE and Plusnet) then you were identified as an existing BT Group customer and NOT offered new customer pricing. Do you have a secret to get such pricing or has BT recently dropped this practice ?

Obviously leaving is your choice , but unless you are leaving for a different network (Alt Net or Virgin ) then as the underlying FTTC network (Openreach) is the same , hopefully you are not expecting any improvement in the speed the new provider will deliver, as that’s fundamentally a product of the Openreach line length and line quality and that stays the same irrespective of the ISP using it to deliver their service to you ….if your new provider is arranging Openreach FTTP (because it’s available so you can move off FTTC ) then that option was also available with your current provider .

@iniltous It doesn’t really matter which ISP the OP is intending to move to. You’ve already explained the bit about Openreach and the OP has given their answer. What’s more to be said?

I often wonder just how much of a vested interest that some contributors here have in BT because whenever someone says they’re leaving, someone always pops up to ask why? or at best, try and promote the angle that it’s not always greener on the other side.
