I have been having problems for quite some time now with incoming emails either disappearing (i.e. expecting a response from a third party that does not arrive) or mail such as receipts from retailers not arriving.

I did check my spam and junk folders and tried lots of things to try to find these mails but to no avail.

But then suddenly today, I noticed that my Facebook folder was filling up with mail (10k +) and I wasn't particularly using Facebook to any great extent.

So imagine my surprise when I opened this folder and bingo! All the incoming mail that I have been missing from my inbox for all this time was all being stored in my facebook folder. HUH?

I have no idea why my incoming mail would be moved (not all of it but a significant amount) into my facebook folder. I certainly have not set up any rule in my account to arrange this.

So can anyone give me any idea as to why this is happening and how I can remedy it? of course I am now checking this folder alongside my inbox folder every day but a permanent fix to this anomaly would be 'nice'.

Hi @Bakersboy, thanks for your post and sorry this is happening.
As the emails are all getting sent to the Facebook folder would you check if you have any rules set up with 'facebook' in them?
Cheers

Hi John - thanks for your response. It has been sorted now and you are right!

I spoke to BT on Chat and found that I had a facebook rule set up to send all mails with 'facebook' in them to this folder.

Of course I now realise that this can also trap much much more. 😀

So I have disabled this and all is well now.
