Just received a pop-up when opening B.T. mail to upgrade. Is it genuine?

The popup would most likely be caused by your web browser being infected by a add-on which is activated when is sees specific content. Try a different web browser to see if you still see the same message.

If you hover over the link with your mouse pointer, the link that its directing you will be shown, and it will not point to BT.

Sorry I am not very tech savvy, so would this happen if I access my email via an app?

If you are using the app, then are you sure its not simply a request to update the app itself?

No, it said upgrade your email. It appeared on the left-side of the screen.

This is the pop-up I received.

Opened app to day and again this pop-up appeared.

No, it was on an iPad. Does that makes a difference?

It looks the same, if you're using an app on the ipad to access your emails it looks like an update for that? How often do you check for app updates as it'll show for efinite in the relevant store
