Hi everyone, I would like to access my btinternet.com emails on the new version of Microsoft Outlook. However it tells me I need a BT password (which is not the one I use to access my BT emails at BT's own site), and also it tells me I may need an 'app password'. I don't know what that is.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thank you

You shouldn't need an app password, your normal BT email password should work. App passwords are needed for some older clients by some email providers such as Gmail but as far as I'm aware, BT don't require them and have no way of generating them.

When you say 'the new Outlook', do you mean the client that comes provided with W11 or Outlook 365?

I've just created a test account in the new Outlook for W11, no app password required.

Thank you very much, that has worked. Strange as I had tried my current password, but it didn't work - maybe I missed a key. Appreciate your help greatly.
