BT have removed the "Keep Me logged in" facility and here is no indication that it will be returned.

You also get logged out in there is no activity on the account.

BT have not stated why but it is most likely a security issue similar to banking web pages and apps which log you out after a set time of inactivity because it is not a great idea to have your email account or your bank account constantly logged on to the servers leaving an open connection that could be exploited.

Timed out after short periods of inactivity

Hi

Why do I keep getting timed out if I'm not active on email for more than a few minutes? This has only started to happen in the last couple of weeks and is a nuisance!

I contacted BT who advised clearing all the cookies, but that didn't help at all (in fact it was more of a nuisance as some useful cookies for other sites also disappeared).

I'm using a laptop and microsoft edge, but its also a problem on a tablet with its different system.

There doesn't seem to be a settings option that relates to time out length.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks, Paul

Thanks. Now understand. Might have been nice if BT pre-announced this new feature and briefed their helpdesk (no need to reply on that).
