Good evening,

can not log into my webmail account as keep getting the following. Have deleted cookies, cache and everything I can think of. Help and advice very much appreciated

Strange - a family member has just WhatsApp'd me to ask for help with the same error. I've gone through the clearing out process but it still doesn't work. Strangely, it works fine on their iPad so I'd be interested to know if anyone comes up with a solution. I've guided them through the clearing out procedures in both Chrome and Edge and both still come up with this error.

Have had this exact problem today.

Did manage to speak to a BT engineer. He couldn't account for it but suggested I try a different browser (i.e. other than Edge).

Tried Opera and it worked! Hope this helps.

I can see why they suggested that but I feel that it should work in one or both of Chrome & Edge as they are probably the two most commonly used Windows browsers. I don't really want to lumber the poor woman with more than 2 browsers just to get hold of her email.

Same error for me... but works fine through Google. So looks like latest version of Edge has caused the issue.

I had the same problem this morning,using Edge & Firefox.I tried putting bt.com in search which took me to the bt main page ,clicked email & the got the page to enter my em address & password & got to my email page.obviously only a work around but worth trying if you are stuck.

For my sins, I work in IT and it would be very odd for updates made to Edge AND Chrome to cause such an issue 'in one go'. I've never seen such a thing in over 35 years.

My plan of attack for Chrome (checking the problem after each step) will be to re-dump all the cookies/caches, disable any extensions, install an extension I use personally to clear the IndexedDB data out of the user profile, test Incognito mode, and if all else fails export the bookmarks before using a powerful uninstaller to remove all traces of Chrome and then install afresh.

If none of that works I think I'll get a priest in to perform an exorcism!

Why do I keep getting a server outage message when searching email

I am unable to search emails at all, and keep getting the server outage message.

It is the same using multiple devices and the same on app and web. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app and the same happens.

This is beyond frustrating and renders the service useless in my view.

I saw a mention elsewhere about clear the cache. I assume this means the app not the device and if so I can’t see anywhere to perform this function in the bt app settings.

Any help would be appreciated.

Email account locked, unable to change password

Hi,

I received an email telling me that my wife's email address has been locked due to suspicious activity. When I go thorugh the resecure account process and try to update her password, it keeps failing and says to try later. Can you help before please before I incur the wife's wrath!

Incidentally, I used the user's login details but on my own PC using Chrome on Windows 10 and had no trouble getting in. So, if the BT site is actually OK then why would numerous browsers all report the same problem at the same time? If, for example, Chrome works OK for someone but not for another and ditto for Edge et al, could it be an intermittent problem with BT? A recent Windows update that has broken a setting or fiddled with something it shouldn't have? The thick plottens!!

Even though DownDetector claims there are no BT problems at the moment, the number of problem reports is showing a pretty sharp increase this morning and I find that suspicious......

The above message appears when I attempt to get onto my email. I've never had it before!! I've tried switching off and on. Surely cookies aren't effecting my email!! Please help!

I tried re-dumping all browser/caches in Chrome - no effect.
The laptop was swept for malware/viruses and general housekeeping done - no effect.
Incognito mode was tried - no effect.
I tried creating a brand new user profile to use but still no joy.
Completely removed/reinstalled Chrome and at that point I thought I'd try something different, which was mentioned by someone in an earlier post. I tried going to bt.com and selecting the Email option from there. It took me to the login screen where I was able to login to the user's account albeit in a slightly **bleep**-eyed way.

It should flow like this....go to login page, supply details, click Submit, user is presented with their Inbox.

However, in BT World it currently flows like this....go to login page, supply details, click Submit, user sent back to main BT.com page, click Email, user is presented with their Inbox.

I've never seen the like before. It does the same in Edge too so it's not browser specific. I've either missed something on the laptop or something in BT's email access routine appears to be crocked.

Does anyone from BT read the issues reported in this forum? It would be nice to get some possible solutions without giving up waiting in a phone queue after over 30 minutes listening to the awful on-hold music!

You all using multiple devices? Or Multiple web browsers? Or refreshing the same web page?

these 3 are the most common reasons why… this can be resolved my logging out of every device, clearly cache and cookies on every web browser.

then open a private browser and see if it then works if not you’ll need to call customer services on 0800 800 150.

Email login loops back to Home page

I'm trying to sort out an issue for my cousin who uses BT mail.

Logically, the flow should be...
Go to login screen-submit details-click Submit-user presented with web mail Inbox

However, the flow is this...
Go to login screen-submit details-click Submit-gets returned to Home page-click on Email again-user presented with web mail Inbox

This is in Chrome (newly reinstalled) but the same thing also happens in Edge. All cookies/caches have been cleared, no malware present and the same thing doesn't happen if I test the login on my own PC.

Any idea why this extra step is happening and login takes her back to the Home screen?

No it's not bookmarked. I just open up a Chrome tab, go to bt.com and use the Email option in the top right.
