@google1901 wrote:

Hi,

I just wonder, having had my btinternet.com email account for (what seems like) decades, the issue e with using MS Outlook client and my local copy of all email(s) vs the BT server(s)?

The reasonackI ask is (having several backups yet I see my outlook email files were not backed up? BT do not back up your Outlook clients emails. That would be up to you. However if you have your Outlook set up as an IMAP account anything you with your BT account should be synchronised between the BT servers and your Outlook client. ie delete on BT and it will be deleted from Outlook and vis versa.

As I'm setting up new laptop should I add bt email account (IMAP) and the BT server simply download everything? Yes. Depending on how many emails and folders you have on the BT servers it could take some time.

Ignoring time required to do this, any other restriction? Any feedback will be helpful. Not sure what you mean by restrictions. As long as you are either a current BT Broadband customer or paying for your email account via a BT Premium email account you should be able to set up and use Outlook without issues however personally I would use the Thunderbird email client as it is in my opinion a better client than Outlook. As regards the title of the thread you initially posted on, there is no restriction on the number of emails you can have on the BT servers. Your email account is unlimited but common sense would say that for easy management by you that you at least try and organise them in folders and delete one that you no longer need.
