The Trash folder is where you put emails that you no longer want so why don't you just empty it and this will clear the number of emails in it.

If you do want to keep the emails don't put them in Trash, make a new "Pending" folder and store them there until you do want to delete them.

My BT mail folders show numbers for unread messages. Particularly annoying is 34 in the Trash folder, even though I have read every one. All messages in the folder do not have bold text {usual indication of unread}. How do I clear the counter? I have marked all messages in the folder unread, then gone back and marked all as read again. But the counter still shows 34!!!
