How many emails can my cameras send daily?

I've got two cameras monitoring a relative's vacant house some distance away. They are configured to email pictures upon any movement detected. I've recently swapped these from sending via Outlook over to using BT email, due to unresolved issues with the former.

The email goes to two addresses. How many a night will I get away with before reaching limits? I ask because if a spider webs over a camera, we can get hundreds per night, whilst outlook used to impose anti-spam daily limits.

Welcome to the BT Community.

While we do have an Excessive Email Anti-Spam policy, this is based on a number of factors which detect what may or may not be Spam, as such we don't have a specific number which may trigger the limit.

Thanks for the reply. Would, a picture message to the same two people, perhaps a few hundred times in a night (if a spider crawls across the lens), ever be confused with spam?

You are not going to get a definitive answer as to what does or doesn't constitute spam for obvious reasons.

There may be a possibility for this to become flagged as spam.

Can the cameras be configured to ignore triggers within 10 seconds of each other, or something similar, to reduce the number of notifications?

Alternatively, consider using CCTV anti-spider spray around the cameras? This would help keep your image clear too.

Unfortunately the cameras cannot be configured that way. I have got & used anti-spider spray, works quite well for a few weeks. But the vacant house I'm looking after for a relative is some distance and I can't quickly visit to reapply.

If I did trip an anti-spam limit, what would happen? Would I get a message, would my account be blocked to outgoing email for a certain period? I hope not blocked to incoming too?

That's understandable.

If the usage is significantly different to what we'd expect from the average customer may limit the volume and size of emails. We'll normally let you try to put things right within a reasonable time, but we may limit or suspend the service (in part or fully).
Before this happens you'd speak to our customer service Email team to discuss the Spam Flag and the nature of the outgoing emails to.

BT Business Broadband email may be more appropriate for the requirement of high outgoing emails- BT Email Lite

How would I notify the customer service team? I'd rather not upgrade my Broadband for what should be a temporary problem, i.e. I won't have the house/camera forever, and neither will this happen for a while once I visit (soon) to clear spiders away and spray Spider-ex around.

Create a free Gmail account & use that.

Gmail has sending limits to protect users from spam and abuse, and to ensure compliance with regulations. The limits are:

Standard Gmail account: 500 emails per day, or 500 recipients per day

But sorting the issue at source would be preferable. I use Amazon Blink cameras for the same purpose & get alerts to my phone rather emails. I use TP-Link Tapo cameras at home that do the same thing.
