I haven’t used a friend’s network but I have discovered (see my earlier post) that I have no problems with pictures arriving at my iCloud address so I suspect my problem is unique to BT. As for the rest, I don’t understand what’s written and I wouldn’t know how to tether to my phone or what to do if I knew how. I only use my phone for emergencies. I don’t know what ‘g’ my phone is but it’s a Motorola Moto e6 play. It says it’s a OS Version Factory 9. It’s Pay as you go and if I spend over £20 a year on it I feel robbed. I have searched the internet and it might be 4gLTE whatever that means. Why would a neighbour’s stuff be going through my router?

I have tried every which way to be able to see images on incoming bt emails on my iPads. The settings are set to allow images and, in particular, allow senders from particular senders who regularly include pictures. Where there would be pictures I get rectangular or square grey boxes with question marks in the centre of the box plus some text in the top left hand corner to give the file name of the picture. I can see the pictures on my PC and on the mobile phone but not on the iPads. Unfortunately, it is the iPads that I use on a regular basis.

I have, possibly incorrectly, assumed when you mentioned the settings being set to allow pictures this was by logging into your BTMail account using a web browser and going to the settings.

You have not said how you are accessing your emails on your iPad so I have assumed it is with the iPads Mail app.

If you have not already done this check the privacy settings on your Mail app that you are using on your iPads. Try going to Settings > Mail > messages > Turn on "Load Remote Images" or Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection depending on which iPad operating system you have.

Thank you for replying. Load remote images are already allowed as you describe, as well as within the btemail app.

If you do an Internet search for "No images on iPad" you will find a few sites regarding it. It may be linked to an Apple update and there are various "fixes" being put forward. Some of which work for some folk and some of which work for others so it might be worth trying them.

I’ve tried those that seemed new and applicable but nothing seemed to work. We have two iPads, both working off the same most recent iOS update 18.1.1 One is a slightly older model but the other is very recent. We have the same problem on both gadgets. Anyway, thank you for giving your advice. I’m just glad I haven’t missed something obvious.

I assume you have tried simply re-starting the iPads.

Have you tried using the iPads on a different network such as a friends or tethering them to your phone and use 4/5g to see if it is a problem with their IP address on your BT Hub.

If they work when tethered try a factory reset of the BT Hub to if that helps.

One thing I have tried is to send a picture from one iPad to the other iPad via iCloud.com (two separate iCloud email accounts) - one I have never used for myself until now and the other my wife uses - and it works fine on the iCloud receiving inbox.

I don't understand what you mean when you say "Why would a neighbour’s stuff be going through my router?".

As regards tethering your phone, just forget that suggestion. if you don't use your phone it would be a bit much to try and explain to you how to do that.

I suspect it will be the BTMail app that is the problem however...

Did you try restarting the iPads and if you did and the problem is still there did you try a factory reset of your BT hub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds to see if that helped?

If emails that contain pictures are viewable using your PC and mobile phone that shows that BT are sending the pictures and they are being received by your devices so that points to the problem being on your iPads or with the BTMail app on the iPads and as I have said above, I suspect it will be the BTMail app that is the problem.

If you do still have the problem I would suggest that you set up the Mail app that came with your iPads and if that works you should uninstall the BTMail app.

Yes, I have tried restarting both iPads but not resetting the router. You are right to say the PC and phones are showing pictures in btemail. So, I also think it is the BT app that is at fault but I was wondering if there was some other simple solution that everybody else, but me, knew about. This past 24 hours the whole bt email system has been in confusion. They have started meddling again in a big way so it will probably be a while before it can be trusted again. You would think BT was big enough, and would pay enough for good quality staff, to change things without causing chaos. You never know, though, it might solve my problem by a stroke of luck rather than design!

I have no idea what you mean by "This past 24 hours the whole bt email system has been in confusion. They have started meddling again in a big way so it will probably be a while before it can be trusted again" because as far as I am aware over the past 24 hours BTMail has been working in the manner that it has always worked.

I have given you some simple things to try to resolve your problem which is entirely up to you whether or not your try them so as I have nothing further to offer you I will I will bow out of your thread.

Many thanks for taking the time to offer solutions. In my neck of the woods the email system wasn’t working at all yesterday afternoon for long periods. A message would flash up saying there was a problem and to try again later. At other times my sent emails were going into drafts or to my own inbox. I didn’t realise what had happened until I noticed the number of emails appearing in the drafts folder. The odd one in my email inbox I found more by accident, but that one did also get sent when I asked the recipient if they had received it. It might be purely coincidental but the email to the recipient (a regular weekly contact) had gone into spam instead of their inbox. When things were in confusion I called up the emails in drafts and tried to send again but they wouldn’t send. My automatic signature was wiped clean. I had to use a standby gmail account. It was still a bit haphazard this morning but it has become better. The screen displays are now quite different to what they were.
