Since Saturday's outage, my email apps on the PC are not working. I can send emails but not receive. The webmail and iphone versions are fine. I have tried all the usual things: router off, reinstall the app, check the settings, change the password. Still no luck. Any ideas?

Unfortunately the usual things like reinstall app or changing passwords are not the usual things. The usual thing to do is nothing at all. As you can use webmail fine and iphone (assuming that is using your wifi rather than a data connection), then the password would have been correct.

Are you presently a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email through a BT Premium email account?

If neither of the above your email account may have been downgraded to a BTMail Basic account which can not be used with an email client.

Any "downgrade" may not have taken place when you left BT but by deleting your account and then trying to set it up again will have triggered the downgrade on that device.

See link

https://www.bt.com/help/email/bt-email-products
