Does this happen on your home wireless network and if you are out and about using 4/5g mobile network or just when at home?

Have you changed settings or deleted your email app at any point since this started?

Are you able to logon and use your BTMail account using a web browser?

The message says “the mailserver “mail@btinternet.com” is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings. server message Access denied”

this has been going on for a few days. I have checked my details and they are all correct.
Any suggestions as to why this happened

Are you presently a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email through a BT Premium email account?

If neither of the above your email account may have been downgraded to a BTMail Basic account which can not be used with an email client

See link

https://www.bt.com/help/email/bt-email-products

My webmail is unaffected. I am currently out of the country on holiday and it started a couple days after I got here. I am logged into the wireless network where I am staying with my mum. Ive been to this place many times before and this hasn't happened before. I changed settings or deleted my email app although I was thinking of doing that.

If your webmail is working that means there is nothing wrong with your email account so I would strongly suggest that you do not delete or change any settings on your email apps as it could cause more problems than it fixes.

You may find that the IP address of the network that you are using has been blacklisted by the BTMail servers.

Did you try using your phones mobile network to see if that works?

If you have access to the router of where you are staying you could try turning it off for half an hour so that when it is turned back on it will have been issued with a new IP address and most likely connected to a different BTMail server which will allow your email through.

If you are using a VPN you could try turning that off to see if it helps.

Failing that I would just use webmail till you return to the UK.

Thanks for your help. I decided in the end to just use webmail as I didn't want to disturb anything at my mom’s house.. she is old and doesn't like change. As soon as I went to a different place the problem resolved.

Your explanation stopped me fretting and contemplating changing settings etc.

Thank you
