Yes it is allowed. You can use your BTMail on as many devices as you want using any email clientapp you care to use.

At the moment I am running two pc’s, a 13 old one running windows 10 and a brand new one running Windows 11, On the old PC I use Thunderbird but thinking of using Outlook on the new PC, is this allowed with my BT email?
p.s will be retiring the old PC once every thing is transferred to the new one.

Thank you,do you know if outlook will automatically pick up the settings (once I have entered my email address and password) OR will I have to input any manual setting.?

It will pick up the settings, but Thunderbird is a much better client than the new Outlook.

Make sure whichever you choose is selecting IMAP rather than POP3

Thank you, Must admit I have had no problems with Thunderbird so will stick with that on the new PC. So after I have given my email address and password to Thunderbird the only thing I need to remember is IMAP when prompted
(Excuse my ignorance but it was more than 12 years ago when I set-up Thunderbird and I am now81 so cannot remember anything about the set-up)

Thank you, afraid nothing is easy for me lol, I was hoping to download Thunderbird on the new PC and then just enter my email address and BT email password when setting up (assume the Bt email pass word is the same as the MY BT password ?) Thanks for any help.

If you had T'bird set up as IMAP on your "old" PC and if you set it up as IMAP on your new PC everything will seamlessly work just as it did on the "old" PC.

Just select IMAP if it is not already selected and then all you will need to enter is your email address and password when prompted during the set up process.

If you want to keep your "profile" the same, ie any specific settings and your details ec you can transfer your profile form the old to the new.

See link.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer

I would say it is more relevant to do that if you have T'bird set up as a POP3 account, which you haven't other wise just do as I have mentioned above, set up IMAP.

Thank you, I should explain that I will be running Thunderbird on both PC's at least for a few months. I have had a look at my current Thunderbird setting and cannot see the word Imap or Pop3 anywhere but did see that the outgoing mail is on Port 465 so I assume it is Imap???

If you have set up your own folders for your emails and T'bird has all the same folders and emails that are present when you check webmail using a web browser then you will be using IMAP.

You can confirm it if you go to the menu bar in T'bird and click on Tools then Account Settings then Server Settings it will show the account type at the top of the page.
