Hi. This is a new problem. I have been sending emails incorporating the links to the same website for many years. Now, however I get an error message. I get the message when using Mailbird, I have also tried using Thunderbird, but get the same problem.

I also got a similar message when sending an xml file as an attachment, something that, once again, I have been doing successfully for many years

However if I use BT webmail I do not get this problem and the email goes fine.

This is typical of the message I get:

550-We're sorry, but we can't send your email. Either the subject matter, a link, or an attachment potentially contains
550 spam, or phishing or malware. Please check or edit your message and try sending it again. (6-1-1-2) ID (6864C026014EC525)

This is not acceptable - I hope that you can find a solution

Just so that you are aware, this is a BT Customer to Customer forum and your messages on here to not go to BT. The only BT staff are the forum moderators who do not necessarily read all the posts.

Are you a current BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your BTMail email account through a BT Premium email account?

Have you tried sending an email without any attachments to the recipient that your having the problems with to see if that get through?

Is it only the one recipient that you have this problem with?

Thanks for your reply. My issue is same as everyone else. It just relates to a specific email address when I put a link to that website into the email. Same problem sending a file (xml) as an attachment. The issue is the same sending to any address using Mailbird. It also fails using Thunderbird to send the email. However if I use BTMail on the web, then there are no issues.

I have been sending both the email and the generic xml file using Mailbird for many years.

Any help would be welcome

A 500 series error is generated at the server end. If it sends on the BT webmail it suggests it is not the BT server causing the issue but an intermediate server somewhere. If so, BT is not the one at fault, of course.

The real issue is in the header information, where is the 550 error being sent from?

What is your answer to the first two questions I asked?

Have you checked to see if it is your antivirus or malware checker that is stopping them going through. If you have either of them checking outgoing mail try turning it off as a test to see if they then send.
