emails disappearing

My emails only hit my in box briefly before disappearing into the ether. They do not go into spam or the bin. This only became evident today. I have a new mobile phone which set up emails without a problem. Yesterday I was on line and deleted loads of old emails via the web and left just a few in my in box. Today I am showing no emails on web mail but still a few old emails on my mobile. My email on my mobile is IMAP. Thanks

Good morning @GoldenTess.

Thank so much for coming here.

If you sign out of emails on your phone and log back in do the old emails disappear?

When deleting emails were you deleting a max of 50 at a time?

Hi Katie,

The original mails remain on my mobile when I sign out of bt emails and back in again.

New emails disappear at different rates, some almost immediately, some take up to an hour or so. They disappear quicker on web email which is currently showing no emails.

I deleted the max amount of emails at a time, never quite 50.

Hi Katie

I think that I may have found the problem.

My new mobile came with a Chromebook and I set it up using data transfer from my mobile but hadn't really looked at it since starting with email problems. I didn't associate it being a problem as initially I couldn't receive bt emails on it.

I've opened it today and low and behold I have loads of emails on it from both Bt and Gmail. If I remove my Bt email address from the Chromebook will this solve my email problem or is there any other way around it? I see that Bt email is via POP3 but I can't see a way of changing that unless I'm not looking in the right place.

Thanks

Yep, it was my suspicion from the start you had a device configured as POP3 but you said your new device was IMAP.

Unfortunately any mails on the Chromebook will only be available on the Chromebook as they will have been deleted from the server.

Create a free Gmail address, forward the mails from the Chromebook to that address, then delete the account from the Chromebook.

You can then forward the mails from the Gmail account back to your BT account.
