I have a Win11 desktop, with Thunderbird installed.

One of the accounts is ***@btinternet.com.

The server is POP (mail.btinternet.com.); the port is 995

Security is SSL/TLS

Authentication is Normal password.

I have a Samsung A25 - the current email address on this is *****@gmail.com.

When I first acquired the A25, I installed my default email address. The problem was that all the existing emails to/from the default address on my desktop were sent to my smartphone - which I did not want.

I removed that account from the smartphone. and opted for Googlemail.

I have experienced considerable inconsistency in using Googlemail.

As a result, I intend loading Thunderbird on the smartphone, with the intention of using my btinternet.com email address on the smartphone. As I don't often use the btinternet address on my desktop, I have few emails in that inbox, which I can empty.

However I prefer to keep the account on the PC as a standby.

What obstacles will encounter when I try to copy my Thunderbird/btinternet account settings to the smartphone?

None whatsoever, however, I would recommend Blue Mail rather than Thunderbird on your phone.

It won't sync with your desktop though (which I guess is what you want) as that is POP3 rather than IMAP.

Thanks.I have installed the BTmail app, and it is all working.

I guess I can change the sync settings if I need to. I assume the Thunderbird account will still pick up the btmail anyway.

Regards

The BT mail app wouldn't be my choice!!

If you mean the Thunderbird account on your PC, yes it will still receive as normal but anything you send from the phone won't appear in the sent folder on the PC.

I agree with @licquorice . BlueMail is far better than the BTMail app.

Try it and you will see.

For one thing you can use it for multiple email addresses from multiple providers.

In Thunderbird, I have two accounts - each from a different server.

So far Btmail seems to work ok for me🙂
