Hi and thanks for the response.....you may very well be correct, but ive had so many issues with BT i simply dont know what if anything has happened.

I stopped BT broadband about 12/18 months ago as they couldn't and still can't provide fibre here.

We were then required to migrate to digital land line, and still have this very poor service, but not likely for much longer to be honest.

We also have BT as a provider for a mobile sim.

So i don't know if I'm basic or not, if I am then i havent been told that but you may very well be right as there were lots of things we were not told when we were required to switch to digital landline. eg it doesnt work in larger houses and you cannot add range extenders.

Is there any way of finding out if its basic or otherwise, and wonder why this problem has only just started and on 2 devices.....which may well suggest you are correct of course!

cheers,

Peter

In the last week or two my email seems to keep reporting a send fault and then the fault clears after a period of time, sometimes this is after 10 minutes, other time after a few hours. Why should this be happening, its hugely frustrating never knowing from one day to the next if sending mail is going to work. The fault says that the server is disconnecting/lost its connection.

Incoming mail seems fine, its just outgoing, and this is happening on both my Outlook installation on my laptop as well as on my Iphone.

Many thanks in advance

Are you presently a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email through a BT Premium email account or did you migrate to EE Broadband?

If none of the above your email account may have been downgraded to a BTMail Basic account which can not be used with an email client or email apps.

See link

https://www.bt.com/help/email/bt-email-products

if you have active digital voice then that requires a BT hub and internet access

No I don’t think that is correct.

As I said in my second post, we stopped broadband from BT. As a result they forced us to convert to digital voice service and would not allow us to keep our wired voice service.

So we now have 3rd party broadband and BT digital voice service ( which yes does require a router separate to our 3rd party broadband) but it is only for voice and not a full broadband service.

and….. we are currently listed on the account as a Standard email subscriber and entitled to up to 11 email addresses, which presumably means theoretically at least that I can use a email client for mail.
Many thanks,

Peter
