BT have introduced compulsory Two Factor Authentication (2FA) for BTMail and your MyBT. This can not be turned off.

If you have completed your profile in your MyBT and added a recovery email address and mobile phone number you should not have to enter the mobile number every time you log on, it will be already have been select and you should only need to click a box to have the PIN sent to it.

Some users have been having problems with the 2FA which BT are aware off and they are working on a fix. As per usual with BT their communication regarding the implementation of 2FA problems and the forthcoming fix has been dire if not non existant to say the least.

There are numerous dates for the fix to be implement being banded about by users on the forum, some of the dates have come and gone with no fix being pushed out while others have claimed that their problem has been fixed.

In any event 2FA is here and can not be switched off by the user but it is reported that the 2FA system is supposed to recognise the device that is being used to access BTMail and MyBT after an undisclosed time and usage and will treat that device as "trusted" and automatically turn it off.

2FA has been turned on for a number of weeks now and to date my device still requires the PIN.

As I normally use an email client and email apps, which do not require the PIN so I do not find it much of an issue.

I would suggest it might be worth you trying an email client/app at least until BT get this problem sorted.

Over the past couple of weeks I've been either asked to change my password at least twice a day or had to enter my mobile number to get a pass number to verify my email.address. is this the normal thing now or is something going amiss with my email?
