Hi

Every time I log in to BT Mail I have to go through the pin verification rigmarole which was initially only supposed to last for a couple of weeks or so until BT was satisfied I was genuine.

Now coming up to 2 months & every time I log in I must get a pin

Is this the new "normal" or is something wrong somewhere ?

The Two Factor Authentication (2FA) was meant to "learn" that the device you use is a "safe" device. Obviously BT have not and will not reveal how that determination will be made as it would be helpful to anybody including scammers/thief wishing to circumvent it. I suspect that there will be various things used such as cookies and IP addresses but as I have said that is just a guess.

As regards the "new normal" I also suspect that that is now correct but you could try calling BT 0330.1234.150 and ask to speak to the email team to see what they say.

The best way for you to avoid the need to use 2FA is to use either an email client or email app. Due to the way those work they do not trigger the 2FA .

Thanks for the info

I'll stick with the 2FA setup I think for the time being, the extra security is worth 20 secs of my time & yes, I timed the process 🙂

D
