I spent the weekend speaking to Apple and BT technical support. It worked for a short while and then reverted to error message by which time I had uninstalled and reinstalled BT Mail in my Apple Mail App several times and deleted the cache and history. I have now given up and have installed the BT Mail App that is working fine on my Iphone and Ipad so thank you for suggesting that I use an alternative to Apple Mail app for my Mail. I also upgraded my phone as storage space was low but it didn't make any difference to the error message I was getting.

I am getting an error message when loading emails on my iphone and ipad. Seems to coincide with Apple update but could this be related to the news today about AI issues? Email updates sporadically on my iphone and ipad with Error message. It does update as normal on the BT website.

Or is it actually something to do with the fact that the Apple BT Mail App hasn’t been updated for six months?

Who knows, but the BT Mail App going that long without any sort of update through multiple Apple security updates and the iOS 27 update, I wouldn’t necessarily think this is an Apple problem.

It seems likely that the OP is using the Apple iPhone email app to access his BT email account. If this app is like the Android one, it will provide access to ANY email account not just the BT one.
If it isn't working reliably with BT email then a solution is to use another email client on the iPhone - Bluemail, Thunderbird etc.
