So I'd have to unplug the mesh from the modem and have it connected to the SH2 via a LAN port? Would I need to keep the WiFi open on the SH2 for the phone or does that use it's own backend? Sorry to be a nuisance it's just frustrating as the mesh is supposed to streamline my home network and it's security.

Hi everyone; I have a question or two. So I'm a 1GB Fibre customer. I've upgraded my Smart Hub 2 to a Xiaomi Wireless Mesh. Since doing this I can't use my WiFi phone. Is it possible to add the Smart hub as a repeater with the sole purpose of using the phone? Thanks in advance.

The SH2 has to be the first device in line ( so connected to the ONT ) but you can connect your own mesh after the SH2 , you can’t have the SH2 second in line if you want your phone service ( DV ) to work

TBH , there are other forum members more versed in this than myself, apparently there are a few small drawbacks having 2 routers ( double natting ? ) , you just ensure you devices connect to your mesh WiFi not the SH2 , it may be possible to turn off your SH2 WiFi anyway , no doubt others will confirm the best way to configure both devices , but the SH2 needs to be first for DV to work .

"Would I need to keep the WiFi open on the SH2 for the phone"

No, the DV connection on the SH2 does not need the hub's WiFi to be on for it to work. Also, any digital phones that wirelessly connect to the SH2 don't need the hub's WiFi to be on either, because they connect via DECT.

Ah ok. Really appreciate everyone getting back to me. Would this hinder speed from the mesh any? I got the mesh as I felt like I wasn't getting the use out of my 1GB through the SH2. With the mesh I can have the two units carrying traffic over the backend and it means I can gain speed having devices (such as my Xbox Series X) hardwired to the secondary unit.
