HandsFree speaker not working with Digital Voice

I have just been moved to Digital Voice. All went well except that the loudspeaker in my DECOR 2200 desk phone no longer works, for example if I want to dial a number "handsfree" before picking-up the handset. This fault occurs whether I plug the phone into the hub or into a Digital Voice Adaptor. Is this a known problem? Is there a fix (e.g. replace the batteries!) or do I have to buy a new phone, and if so, which ones in the BT shop will do what the DECOR 2200 did before.

Have you tried unplugging the phone for a while, restarting the router and trying again?

After my post yesterday, I tried a few things to see if I could find a fix. At one point the fault cleared completely but I don't know how I got it to work. The fault returned later.

I then discovered that when the fault is present, the speaker works correctly while the red light on the Mute key is lit. That would be a sort-of solution but I would have to remember to unmute the microphone to talk to someone and would only be able to do so by picking-up the handset.

I have just tried switching the hub off and on again after a delay, but that hasn't fixed it. Once again I fiddled with the keys and somehow cleared the fault completely, but that may not turn out to be a permanent solution.

Tomorrow I will buy some AA batteries and try replacing those in the DECOR 2200 phone. It could just have been a co-incidence tht this fault on the phone occurred at the same time as the change to Digital Voice and led me to think it was the Digital Voice that had caused it.

Changing the batteries had no effect - the speaker still didn't work when the Handsfree key was pressed on the DECOR 2200. However, I had ordered a Battery Backup Unit a few days ago, which arrived today. Replacing the supplied power supply with the BBU, seems to have cured the fault completely - the speaker comes on when I press the Handsfree key, without needing to press the Mute key as well.

I am a retired professional electronics engineer and this tells me that the problem may be a design weakness in the existing power supply or a design weakness in the DECOR 2200 phone, or a combination of both. I measured the voltage of the supplied power supply and saw that it was lower than that of the battery backup unit. It's possible that some phones may malfunction if the supply voltage from some power supplies is low, even if both are working correctly. Your engineers may be able to investigate further than I can.
