I haven't actually tested it, but any DECT handset should connect to the Hub's built in base station.

Have you tried it with one of the Panasonic handsets to eliminate the Yealink handset as the problem?

Hi everyone.

I am trying to use my existing Yealink with the Digital Voice on the BT HH2 and it's presenting some challenges.

I can successfully pair them to the DECT in the BT HH2 and I can see them in the BT HH2 GUI.

I can receive calls too with no issues, and all three handsets ring.

I can call between handsets (intercom) no issues.

But I cannot make calls. I can't even have a dial tone. The handsets are also stuck or so it seems on data initializing.

I was under the impression that these would work. Or is it again the old BT with their proprietary stuff and we must get their own equipment?

Much appreciated.

Albert

Hey @albertc30.

Welcome back to the Community!

Existing DECT phones should absolutely work with Digital Voice; this doesn't need to be a dedicated BT branded product.

You do need to be using a BT branded Hub though, and connect the base station to the green port at the back of this.

Also do your secondary units pair to the main base station, or have you connected these to separate digital voice adapters?
Peter

If they are set up correctly (Sounds like they are as other features are working) then it sounds like a handset issue. The handsets will work as long as they are set up correctly to a BT Smart Hub 2 as @Peter_W has said.

I would perhaps reset the phones themselves as that error message sounds like its coming from the phone itself

Hi everyone.

Apologies as I might not have explained myself correctly.

My existing wireless Panasonic handsets work fine with the base plugged in at the back of the BT HH2. I can receive and make phone calls with these with no issues at all.

The Yealink handsets also work fine if connected to their own VoIP base station.

Now this is where I might be wrong. These are VoIP handsets but also DECT, correct? If so, I am skipping the VoIP base altogether and pairing these handsets to the BT HH2. They pair fine and I can see them on the HH2 GUI. They also ring when a call comes in and I can answer just fine. But when it comes to make calls, this is where the issues start. I can use their intercom calls to each handset fine. It's just making calls to outside that I'm having issues. I can't even get a dial tone, plus the fcat that they are stuck on data initializing and if I try and do anything I get Synchronizing, please try later.

It's at this stage that I am now thinking if I want a DECT handset to connect via wireless to the HH2, then this must be BT's own handsets.

Much appreciated for all the help.

Regards,

Albert

Hi.

I just did this as per your sugestion and they do work. But could this be then, because the Yealink is a VoIP handset?

Thanks.

Quite possibly. I'm not familiar with the Yealink, but if it is dual purpose are you sure you have made all the necessary changes to the configuration?

I believe so, yes.
To be honest there isn't much to it. Pair/Register it to a base, enter pin and registration sucesful.
Shame as it's receiving calls but not making them.
Thanks.

@albertc30

The VOIP element will be built into the Yealink base, so the handsets are just DECT. The relevant part is GAP (Generic Access Profile) compatibility, which you could check the handset specs for. But having said that, GAP only provides for the most basic task of making & receiving calls. It could be that the error you are seeing is the handsets looking for something specific from their own base, as typically that's where date, time & contacts are stored. So it may just be that you've reached the limit of what the handsets can do under GAP. You would probably be better off just buying additional handsets for the Panasonic base.

Just a couple of thoughts:

Have you actually tried making a call, despite the absence of dial tone?

Did you deregister the handsets from their own base before pairing with the SH2?

Hi.
Sorry for the late reply.
I have de-registered it from it's original base, yes. And I have also tried calling but every time I do I just get the synchronizing, please wait error.
Thanks
