Can anyone say for certain that moving from unlimited calls to payg will not trigger a new broadband contract?

I know it’s an add on and shouldn’t, but the first thing I’m met with before checking out is

“I agree to the terms and conditions and would like my contract to start as soon as possible. On 31 March each year the monthly price shown for your broadband plan will increase by £3”

That tells me nothing about what I’m trying to do and the terms and conditions don’t seem to clarify anything

I’d rather waste the money than extend my very expensive broadband contract and have been caught out by BTs poor, verging on misleading, wording in the past.

It will definitely trigger a new 24 contract.

You need to insist that you don't want this to happen and get it in writing.

The call staff are a devious lot so a verbal confirmation is a massive no no.

Wow! Thanks.

That’s not the answer I was expecting, but not surprising either.
I was doing it online as my last experience of the call centre agents matches your opinion perfectly and I have no wish to repeat it.

I’ll stay with what we have until the end of contract then. It will be cheaper in the long run once I either renegotiate or switch providers.

Hi @Andrew600

You can generally change your calling plan without renewing your contract. There is an exception, though. If you're moving from an Unlimited Weekend Calls, Unlimited Evening & Weekend Calls and Unlimited Anytime Calls plans and want to move to one of our new Calling Plans such as Unlimited, you’ll need to regrade your package with us.

You can find some information around this, and how to do it online yourself, here on our 'What are the BT Calling Plans and how can I change to a new one?' help page.

The only options under DV are things like call waiting, voicemail etc.
Nothing listed for calling plan. That will be because historically the landline got included as part of the broadband package, not as an item in its own right. No idea why.

I could be wrong, but I think I can see where this is headed. It is part of my broadband package, wrongly, but that’s where it is.
If I attempt to change it, I’m changing my broadband package which equals new contract.

The same thing happened when I was offered Halo3+ for £0. The algorithm didn’t realise the landline was included in the broadband total and it ended up costing me £12 a month until the retired mods sorted it out for me.

I know what everyone is saying is correct and it’s an add on, but my package is a mess and structured incorrectly.
I’ll take a deep breath and try to change it by calling them I think.
