There are some troubleshooting steps on there. There's also an option to report a fault so that we can look into it for you and help you get up and running.

BT8600 connected but no dial tone

I am trying to connect a BT8600 and although outwardly working I cannot get a dial tone or answer calls. There is nothing wrong with my BT provided line which happily works with other devices. The BT8600 handset takes the line off the hook and tone dials but no dial tone is heard just some low level line noise followed by "please hang up and try again" after about 15 seconds. Calling in to the BT8600 answers the call automatically after two 'silent' rings with or without 'Answer' activated on the base station; and then hangs up automatically! Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi @Rob-V

Welcome to the community.

If you have a Digital Voice service, could you check that the landline is connected to the green 'phone' port on the router?

If so, could you try restarting the phone and router to see if that helps?

Thanks
Chris

Thanks for the reply 🙂

I don't have Digital Voice and I am now inclined to think there is probably a component failure in the Base unit. Failure to get a dial tone surely means the basic analogue circuit is not being made.
