It wasn’t free. I bought it. I’m setting it up for an elderly relative who struggles with mobility hence need a phone near her chair. Which the wired setup doesn’t work.

i have not complained I was hoping for constructive help in solving an issue. That’s all.

Using digital, with an adapter. Calls in are fine, calls out only work intermittently so 1 succeeds in 4 or 5 attempts. All works fine if using wire directly from phone to hub. Have tried adapter up close to router but still have an issue. Hard wiring is only a temp solution as need to use the adapter long term.

I have this problem, its also happened to me on hardwire telephone, but not as often through an adapter or cordless handset from BT. I contacted BT about this problem, but they do no have a solution.

As the OP states the problem is only when using an adapter and not when connected directly to the hub , it’s pretty clear it’s not the same issue as yours

It’s similar. It does not happen too often to the ones plugged into the hub, I have tested 20 calls, all connecting fine through the hub, one after the other, it does it more on the wireless. I do hope the OP does not get the occasional miss on the ones in the hub like me.

Respectfully it’s not a similar problem at all , seemingly the OP could have a problem free service simply by removing the DV adapter from their setup and rely on a wired phone connected directly to the hub , presumably that arrangement isn’t convenient they want the phone located in a different place to the router …..your problem ( indicated on your own post ) states you have a problem regardless of the phone being connected to DV adapter or connected to the hub directly you made this point specifically even though you are now walking that comment back somewhat , if your own post had said calls were fine with the phone connected directly to the hub the advice given would have been completely different to what you were given .

If it is the DV adapter causing the problem , it’s worth having in mind that other companies like Sky and Vodafone for example (and others ) do not provide anything like this when they move their customers onto their version of ‘digital voice’ , they just say connect your phone to the hub directly, that’s it , no other assistance , in my opinion BT have made a rod for their own backs by providing DV adapter equipment for free that if it’s isn’t ‘perfect’ for the customer usage, it gets complained about , but BT get no credit for supplying it in the first place , perhaps BT should just do what others do and say connect your phone to the router and say to customers who do have a DV adapter , don’t use it if it’s not up to scratch, it not like it cost you anything

Presumably before the move to Digital Voice there was a convenient wired phone socket.

Existing wiring can be utilised by back feeding from the hub green socket.

Alternatively, a standard cordless base station plugged into the hub will provide service for cordless handsets.

Yes, true, however the phone I bought has a base unit with buttons you can add photos of contacts which is what I was hoping to utilise. I can buy another one similar with a an additional handset but the base unit will have to be plugged in nearer the router and so the “photo” element won’t be on the additional handset.
I am aware her disabilities are the issue. If the filter/adapter had worked it would have solved the issue, hence me reaching out to see if anyone had similar issues and had fixed them.

No both the phone port and the router are wrong side of the room, hence the need for the adapter. Phone works fine “plugged in” but is in the wrong place. When I use the filter it receives calls fine but outgoing is hit and miss, pretends to be calling but doesn’t connect on most attempts, occasionally it does. Have even tried the adapter next to the router as a test to see if it was signal issue but no better.

Not sure this is going to help but… 6 months ago she was using the original old phone that was hard wired into the bt line so was on the other side of the room. After moving to digital the by engineer gave her a new compatible phone that was also on the other side of the room. Her mobility had changed, and we were able to move the new bt phone next to where she sits as it only needs to be near a power supply. Unfortunately the phone is black, with black buttons, small writing and a very low light screen. All of which had meant she struggles with using it. I have bought a “Swiss voice” phone, white with black buttons and a bright screen and an easy photo button which she just needs to press to ring out her contacts. Unfortunately this new phone, unlike the bt phone, needs to be either hard wired (mobility issues) or use an adapter. The adapter works for incoming not outgoing.

Thanks, the extension to the wiring is possible but will require lifting carpets (when I say wrong side of the room I mean east west) so either across the room under carpets or right around the room.
i might try another adapter but was hoping for other feedback saying theirs work or otherwise as I’ve not any experience of it actually working

the alternative phone you suggest seems to also come with a dect phone which might be the answer. As in hard wire the base unit and have a dect handset on the side of the room where she sits.
