Surely if you call any area code numbers anywhere in the UK that are not premium numbers, whatever it is you normally have included in your call plan, then calling someone in Newcastle or in that locale, shouldn’t be any different?

Thankyou....well my understanding is this is some sort of call diverting service and when I search 'cost to call an 0191 number when I have all calls add on' the advice is 'it should be free but best to check because....' It's just I've never, as mentioned, come across this one before and want to make sure I wont be charged.

If you have PAYG calls then a call to 0191 *** **** is charged for at the regular rate (around 30p a min ) if you have Unlimited Minutes (which is presumably what you mean by ‘all calls add on’ it’s included in the price of the Anytime plan , as stated 0191 is just a normal area code for Tyneside and Wearside .

What is 'nonsense'. ? That's a bit rude... A google search informed me this number '0191' is used by businesses as a call diverting service.

Furthermore no of course I dont mean 09***. Someone from a business left me a message to call them back, just rechecked and he clearly stated 0191 *** ****.

I will say again, I haven't come across this before and was advised to check I wont be charged.

Thankyou....Is that from a home phone or mobile, only my recollection when taking out the plan in addition to DV/broadband was it was described as 'all calls' and an 'add on'. Perhaps that has changed.

Anyway semantics aside I will assume it is free. Many thanks

If you have calls included then 0191 is free as others have said this is an area code for some areas of the North East including but not limited to Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland. Other business may use the area code for other things but the call package will treat this as a national call.

This is from the BT Site:

Unlimited UK* Weekend Calls: This plan includes weekend calls to UK* landlines, including 0845 and 0870 numbers.

Unlimited Evening and Weekend Calls: You'll get inclusive calls to UK* landlines, every evening and at weekends, including 0845 and 0870 numbers.

Unlimited Anytime Calls: No matter what time of day it is, you won't be charged anything extra for your UK* landline calls. This includes 0845 and 0870 numbers. You'll also get half price pence-per minute rates to UK mobiles. Also, 1,000 free minutes to BT Mobile (excluding BT Business Mobile).

* Calls of up to an hour to 01, 02, 03 , 0845 and 0870 numbers, excluding the Channel Islands, indirect access numbers and dial-up internet access. Other exclusions apply.

Shows how poorly housekeeping is done on the site , those are now legacy call plans and it’s unlikely anyone is still remaining on any of those , replaced by Unlimited Minutes, 700mins (which seems available to telephone only customers for some reason ) , and PAYG .

The old plans you had to redial after 60 mins to avoid charges , the new plans don’t have that requirement , the new plans include calls to mobiles the old ones didn’t.

Indeed......thankyou for the clarification. I had no idea the 're-dial after 60 minutes' no longer existed. Overall I find the site virtually impossible to just dip in to find out about any given code or confirm something or other. Perhaps it is now so massive and like the NHS, in some areas no person or department is designated as responsible for updating info. That's why I came here after wasting maybe half an hour trying my best to find the answer to my question on the website. I am however much obliged 🙂

Not sure who your last post was aimed at , but no one has said that there is ‘half price pence per minute to uk mobiles’ , that has never been the case even on legacy call plans and the current call plans do not differentiate between mobile and ‘landline’ calls , it’s the same pence per minute on PAYG for calls to mobile and landline , but you don’t seem to be on PAYG anyway , calls to mobiles and landlines are included on Unlimited ,that’s why it’s more expensive initially than PAYG , but for someone who makes approximately 40 mins of calls per month ( mobile and landline combined ) PAYG is the poor choice and Unlimited the obvious choice.

You seem to have judging on your previous comments unlimited calls , that means calls to standard landline numbers (including 0191 ) and mobiles are included in your plan , you don’t pay anything extra above the fee for Unlimited , and there is no 60 minute limit …that’s exactly as you were told both by BT when you took the unlimited plan , and as stated on here several times .

Clearly premium rate calls are not included, but mobile and landline are not premium rated numbers .

True , I missed that , but as it’s in reference to a call plan that doesn’t exist anymore , and hasn’t for quite a few years it’s somewhat irrelevant .
