Hi,

We're currently on Fibre2 with a copper landline - this was being kept because of the need for a fall-alarm box.

The box has now been switched to a sim-based connection, and we are out of contract with BT.

We need to keep the landline number, it's the number my elderly mum has had for decades, and she never got on with mobiles.

Trying to economise on costs, and not wanting to risk losing the landline number, I was hoping to port the number to a VoIP service to separate it from the broadband service.

Any advice on the best way to do this, while keeping the BT broadband service ongoing but preferably without starting a new BT broadband contract - at least not until the number has been ported, because I'm assuming a new broadband contract would tie the landline number to BT for another 24 months?

Been a BT customer for years, don't want to leave but don't want to be handcuffed either - not without a safe word 🙂

Thanks for reading,

You need to Port the landline number to your VOIP provider first which will end your current BT phone and broadband contract and then decide if you want a broadband only contract with BT or another ISP
