International calls still cutting off

I have been having a problem ever since digital voice was connected, my calls to America cut off all the time, I had an engineer come to the house and checked and re installed my phone and cables but even he was flummoxed as to why the calls were disconnecting. The calls are still disconnecting and to add insult to injury I am being charged every time the calls connect. I am not getting the service I am paying for anyone any suggestions ?

The best advice I can give is to speak with our technical support team, so that they can continue to look into why this is happening for you. Hopefully, they can help get this sorted for you.

I have informed BT at least 3 times raised several complaints engineer has been and even he said he didnt know what was causing this problem, still doing it and I am still being charged.

If you are calling friends and family rather than businesses, why not simply use WhatsApp. The calls will then be free.

We use it all the time for calls to friends in Canada, works a treat.

This is how the rest of us who no longer use a landline manage, WiFi calling or WhatsApp through our smartphones. I appreciate not everyone has a smartphone, but it really does solve a lot of problems if you don't want or need a landline. We've not had a landline for years, zero issues using the methods described.

As suggested I use whatsapp to talk to my sister in Canada but better still I make video calls so we can see each other not just voices on the end of a phone - and bonus is the calls are free

I am still having this problem too! I need to phone businesses in the US and this call cutting off problem since Digital Voice is intolerable! BT sent a new router, checked the lines repeatedly, opened a case on it and still NO HELP! WhatsApp will not work for my needs, and my friends in America are my age, nearly 80, and don't do WhatsApp!, neither do I! I still need to phone businesses in the US and may have to leave BT to solve the problem!!

What can I do???

No idea why you think being nearly 80 precludes you from using Whatsapp!!! I'm not very far off 80 and many of my friends are over 80 and all use Whatsapp.

Has it been proved the problem lies with BT? The problem could be at the receiving end.

Too many report the problem since the BT Digital Voice changeover, to support it being anything else. My friends don't have WhatsApp and I've had no need for it either. I'm more 'organic' and non tech dependent. BUT I have regular, vital business calls to make to the US that are only landlines, and they can't phone back or text internationally. I need a reliable landline connection, whether you can understand that or not.

Where are these 'too many reports of the problem'? There is only one report on this thread (also to America) and I don't recall seeing any others.

I would wager the problem lies at the receiving end. Digital voice calls within the UK don't cut off, however calls to the US where the Digital call is converted back to Analogue cuts off, where do you think the problem lies?

This problem has been going on for longer than I can remember, BT have suggested that many things (engineer came and reinstalled new telephone and checked all my system, still no good) It was suggested I change the batteries(which I did) I was told maybe I didn't use my land line enough, because I only kept it for calling my sister, the internet was not compatible at my sister house ?? Finally gave up and had my land line disconnected, I realise not a good fit for you I do now use Whats App to telephone my sister I do use a mobile phone anyway and Whats App in England I am nearly 75 and my sister is nearly 80, it could be a solution for you if your friends/businesses do have a mobile phone, it is also free so that was a bonus. I contacted BT again but they still have no solution and for the idea of it being just America it is not, my sister has no problem calling other relatives in England on her land line. I hope you can sort it out maybe ask the businesses you call in America if they use Whats App.
