How to increase no. of rings on Digital Voice handsets.

Don’t know if I’ve selected the correct board. We have just upgraded to Halo3. (Includes Digital voice).I had requested a Tech visit at the same time, assuming they would do the setup. Well kit arrived & I was eventually told I would not get a Tech visit as we live in the Highlands. Cheek - as all the literature states a home visit is part of Halo 3. Anyhow I had a crack at it, & it sort of works, but there are issues. I am using our 2 old handsets + the 2 new DV handsets. We can call out on any of the handsets, but incoming calls, particularly from callers not in our Contacts, seem only to give one ring, meaning we frequently miss them. I’ve tried looking in every bit of info., including Accessibility- to no avail. Can you tell me how to increase the number of rings??
Also, is there anyway to get a home Tech visit. I am given to understand BT engineers don’t do this visit, rather it’s engineers from a company called Cube? Help, please!

Hi @ruths,

Thank you for posting. You should be able to increase the number of rings by accessing Voicemail by dialing 1571. In the menu select 4 and this should give you the option to increase the number of rings.

You can find out more here - All about Voicemail for Digital Voice

have you tried going to hub manager then selecting phone number then reset base. remember this will change your DV settings and also you will probably lose any contacts stored so I would export a copy using DV phone to external source so if they do get deleted you can restore

Sounds like possibly BT's Call Protect may be intercepting unknown callers. Don't know if you had that previously or if it's maybe been added as default as part of the Halo upgrade. Just a though but maybe worth checking.

https://www.bt.com/help/landline/calling-features-and-security/nuisance-calls-and-phishing/bt-call-protect----how-to-----guide

I don't have it as my handsets have screening built in but it could be that unknown numbers are being automatically routed to voicemail.

Hi - it may be that. We previously had BT Call Guardian with answerphone . I assume these are overridden by DV’s call protect. One of the agents I spoke to said Call Protect was active & should not cause problems with using the 2 old handsets as well as the 2 DV ones.
Anyhow, great news, we are getting a BT visit on Monday. Hopefully this will sort the problem! 🤞

Call Protect only seems to manage number on a blacklist, not unknown numbers. A quick test would be to call the "landline" from a mobile. Assuming that mobile number is in your contacts, see if it rings normally. Then dial again but with 141 in front of your home number to withhold caller ID. See how the ringing behaviour is then & if you're routed to voicemail straight away.

Or sign into MyBT account & midway down the page you should see "Get more from BT". Click on "Manage" under the "Your Products" tab then "Landline". Then click "Manage" under "BT Call Protect". If you then Click "Manage" under "Your Blacklist", you can turn it off.

Another thought, when you paired the new handsets did you pair them to the BT Hub or to your existing DECT base station?

After some struggle trying to use 1571 to access settings - ignore 1571.

Log on to your BT Account.

Home Page - Your Products - Digital Voice - Voicemail Manage.

You will find ringer duration options.

Hope this helps.
