Digital Voice phone is DECT which does not use wifi so you can not connect to the mesh system. It has to connect to the Smarthub2.

See link how to obtain the free phone.

BT Digital Voice Customer | BT Shop

If it does not offer the phone on the first attempt keep trying a couple of times.

If that still does not work call BT 0800.800.150.

As regards nuisance calls on DV. It screens out most but some still get through but you can add the number to the blacklist but as scammers constantly change the numbers they use it seems a pretty pointless exercise.

BT Advanced Digital Home Phone?

We've just been moved from Fibre Voice Access (FVA) to Digital Voice. The move went very smoothly. On the switch over day, I disconnected the phone cable from the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and reconnected it to the Smart Hub 2.

We currently have a BT Premium Phone. I see that BT is offering a free BT Digital Voice Adapter or a BT Advanced Digital Home Phone with Alexa built-in.

Is it worth ordering a BT Advanced Digital Home Phone? I have a few questions about it. I can't find the answers on the BT website.

1. Does the BT Advanced Digital Home Phone connect to the Smart Hub 2 using DECT or Wi-Fi? If Wi-Fi, does the BT Advanced Digital Home Phone need to connect directly to the Smart Hub 2, or can it be connected via a mesh Wi-Fi system (specifically, Netgear Orbi) that is hardwired to the Smart Hub 2? The reason that I ask is that the telephone is out of DECT range or direct Wi-Fi range of the Smart Hub 2, but is within range of the mesh Wi-Fi.

2. Is it worth upgrading from the BT Premium Phone to the BT Advanced Digital Home Phone? As I see it, the main advantage is HD Voice. The main advantage of the BT Premium Phone is that it screens incoming calls from unknown numbers, which we've found to be very effective at eliminating all the nuisance calls we used to get before we purchased the BT Premium Phone. I see that Digital Voice includes Call Protect, which uses a BT Blacklist. Does the BT Blacklist eliminate most nuisance calls at source, reducing the need for the phone to screen incoming calls?

Blacklists are a waste of time, they need to be infinite, stick with whitelisting. HD voice is only of benefit if both ends of the call are HD, the call will only be as good as the weakest link.

Thank you both for your quick replies. It sounds like the BT Advanced Digital Home Phone is no use to us, then. The phone, which is in the hallway, is out of DECT range of the Smart Hub 2, which is in my home office. We used to have a BT DECT repeater that worked with the BT Diverse 4016 phones, but the later BT phones no longer support a DECT repeater. Your clarification was very useful. We'll stick with the BT Premium Phone as we're happy with it.
