Hello . I have a BT dect6600 phone and today i received a loud alarm from it that would not stop until i disconnected the phone from the wall socket . The screen showed someone was laving a message, but no message was left .

When I reconnected, it first made a dialling tone noise followed a number unobtainable tone and then silence . This happened 3 times, all told. Anyway, I checked the number, and it turned out to be HMRC scammers who were trying to contact me but because I have my phone set up so that only people on my phone list can get through to me , otherwise it means leaving a message. I blocked the number after the first episode, but that did not work, as the scammer was able to send the alarm two more times. My phone seems normal now, but I am certain it will recur
