Mobile phones do not use DECT, they use either the mobile network, or Wi-Fi.

BT Digital Voice uses DECT to communicate with the BT handsets.

So the answer would be no.

digital voice connects to SH2 base by dect not wifi so mobile will not connect to base. you could divert all incoming calls to your mobile especially if BT mobile

You can use call diversion completely free of charge if the mobile you are diverting to is on the BT network but of course you are limited to 1 phone

Thank you all. I remember using the BT SmartTalk App a few years ago to make VoIP (landline) calls from mobile phones. This was when our landline wasn’t using VoIP/DV. Surely with the VoIP/DV landlines, it must be technically feasible to implement something where we can utilise our mobile phones with our landline system instead of spending money and power for separate landline phones.

then why not just get Broadband without landline (still need to pay line rental) and use your mobile instead?

Although it may be technically doable, is there the demand to warrant developing an application for it ?, chances are your mobile supports WiFi calling , so when in range of your ‘hub’ , your mobile uses your broadband and not the mobile network ( and presumably the mobile provider doesn’t charge for any usage that possibly would be chargeable, when operating in this mode ) , so what would be the point if your mobile could mimic a DECT phone and connect to the hub but use ‘DV’ ,apart from the CLI would be the ‘landline’ number , not the mobile number ?….and as said , if it’s a cost issue , BT offer a no telephony option ( so no DV , no landline number etc ) which saves a small amount per month and your mobile still can use WiFi calling.

I understand the question as I want to do the same thing. It’s all about keeping the landline number - which is like your home address for many people. When someone rings that I would like my mobile to ring, as well as any other phones connected directly to the DV service. It’s standard VoIP so why not over the Wi-Fi. Noting to do with DECT.

if you want to keep your landline number then you need to pay the extra £2/5pm to maintain ability to make/receive calls and have a calling package of PAYG/700 minutes/unlimited

Yes, I realise that, and having opted to keep my land line number, I would like it to ring on my mobile phone whether in the house or not, alongside any other tethered phones I may have connected to the router providing the digital voice

I don't see that is an option currently available. I have Call Divert to my mobile set so my mobile rings if the landline phone is not answered after 15 seconds and that works fine for me.
