Telephone Socket Removal

So i have a telephone socket in a bedroom on the 1st floor and wondering if there is anyway i can completely remove this.

If it isn't the master socket, it is entirely your responsibility to do whatever you like with it

Is the bedroom socket a master NTE or an extension? Is your "line" a traditional copper one or do you have Digital Voice?

So could i just cut this and every other telephone socket would work and would it not give me a shock if i cut it.

Can you post a photo of it here please? There are several versions of the master socket (which you certainly should not cut) depending on when it was installed.

Master socket (like mine) by the look of it.

The master socket is the one that will feed any extension sockets. BT says: It's always best to connect your BT Hub to the master socket if you can. This is where the broadband signal is strongest, before it goes through any other home wiring.

Not to be tampered with really.

Other, more technical members may be able to offer further advice.

That is a main socket however although there are wires connected on the "output" there are no wires connected on the input. Suggest you find out where that cable goes to in your house and disconnect there before removing that socketm

Okay can i not just cut it anyway as we will never be using landline in the house.

Do you have broadband? Is it full fibre to the premises??

We have fibre built to the house which our internet is connected to the fibre wall box

As long as you have full fibre to the premises and are not using your copper line for anything I don't see a problem cutting out that socket.

So i can just cut it and it won’t electrocute me and do i need to tape up the ends or anything or can i just leave it?

You can just cut it. If its still connected to the exchange, there is only 50 Volts on it so its harmless.
