Changing BT4600 base station

Hi, my BT4600 base station, the unit that is connected to the phone line, is faulty and I have bought a replacement. How do I install it? I have three handsets and I done want to loose the phone book. Thanks.

Contacts are stored in the base unit & BT don't generally provide any means to back them up or copy to another base. So you're likely out of luck I'm afraid. It may be possible to connect a handset to both base stations at the same time which may duplicate them, but it's unlikely. Try the pairing procedure on P.78/9 of the manual but you may well have to deregister a handset from one base before you can connect to the other.

Thanks for your reply, that's very helpful. Looks like I've got a laborious task to re-enter all my numbers.
