Hi I have a standard issue home phone model x42-f81. We also have the extra handset. Can I have a separate ringtone for each handset? I have tied setting to different ringtones but each handset seems to follow each others setting. We have a handset in the bedroom which we’d like on a gentle ringtone, for the main handset we would like this on a more prominent ringtone. I’d appreciate any suggestions.

Hello..Did you ever find out how to set different ringtones for 2 digital voice phones please? I have the same problem with my 2 new BT Digital Voice Essential phones. As you said in your post every time I change the ringtone on one phone the other phone changes as well to the same ringtone so I can only have ONE ringtone for both phones!

I have absolutely no idea why one would want different ringtones for each handset.

Thanks I'm giving it up too. It's not possible. I phoned BT tech support but they didn't know either..it's a definite flaw in a 2 phone set up with digital voice. As you said in your first post I wanted a softer more subtle ringtone on the bedroom phone as opposed to the phone in the lounge. Still I can always turn the volume down on the bedroom phone...thanks.
