Port a number to replace DV number

Is it possible to port in a number from a voip provider to replace the BT allocated DV number? The number is a number allocated from the voip providers range and has never belonged to BT. If so how do you arrange for it to be changed, and is there a charge from BT to port in? Thanks.

The voip provider has arrangements to port in numbers from BT , so would BT accept one of their numbers to be used as the number for the digital voice landline?
