I have a client who is affected by modem wifi signals so it is switched off at the modem and they rely on ethernet to laptop & tablet via an adapter or via Powerline Homeplugs through the house mains. When BT switch off their copper landline phone service, is there product to allow connection of several cabled handsets over ethernet or similar

If they are a BT Business Customer, then VOIP phones are supplied, which connect to an Ethernet port and communicate via the Cloud.

Thanks, it isn't clear if the article infers that the old phone sockets can be reused by a wiring change & then broadcasting from the hub to the phone circuit

Existing extension wiring can be moved from the master socket, to the phone socket on the back of the Smart Hub 2.

Thanks but I am a Windows techie not a BT voice wiring expert. Please be a little more forbearing to newbies and no I am not them charging for my research & advice

By “handsets” I assume you mean phones?

It just requires the extension wiring moving from the phone socket on the wall to the socket on the back of the smart hub 2. You may have to fit a BT 431a plug to the extension wiring so you can plug it in. This site might help.

that only works if you have FTTP not FTTC . if FTTC the line is still in use for broadband so requires extension wiring removed from master and connected to new simple phone socket then connect hub socket to new socket

what you posted would work ok as long as you have FTTP as existing phone line not connected but does not work if you have FTTC as existing phone line still in use. you need to remove the extension wiring from master and connect to a standard phone socket and then connect that to the hub

Which is what I said…

Digital Voice doesn't use wifi to communicate with the wireless handsets, it uses DECT. I thought the DECT signal was still broadcast even if wifi turned off.

Does anyone know what frequencies the modem uses for DECT and if the wiring is amended so that plug in handsets are used, can the DECT be turned off if it too is an issue for susceptible users?

DECT uses frequencies between 1880 and 1900MHz, which is just below 2.4GHz wireless. It cannot be turned off on the Smart Hub 2. Its still present even if wireless is turned off.

The answer may be to put the Smart Hub 2 in a Faraday Cage, and just leave an entry point at the back for any cables. That will block off all RF radiation.

Thanks, as the WiFi is off & no comments about headaches, I’d guess that if Dect is already active by default, although no phone switching date scheduled, the frequency may not be an issue ?

some issues may be psychological of course, but not qualified to assess

if DV not active yet on SH2 then it is possible the SH2 DECT is not active as not yet base station. posts trying to pair DECT phone/adapter only seem to pair after DV is active
