Scam / worse BT phone call received today

More of a warning than a question, but I received a call allegedly from BT Openreach today saying my IP address may have been changed from Private to Public. Wanted me to call back to sort it out.

Bt chat said:

"you will not receive any such calls from BT.'

Alternative action is to report the incident to:

abuse@bt.com

You have been warned, do not call the scammers back.

BT Security are not really the people to call, as they are there for building security issues, crime against BT, and employee identification. They are not going to be very happy if they receive calls regarding scam calls, especially as the originator of the scam calls would not be BT.

@Keith_Beddoe is correct about the number you've been given. It wouldn't be suitable to call for this purpose and to be fair I don't think it should have been shared with you. Check the links Keith has posted for information on how to report scam calls etc.
