BT Essential Digital Home Phone bricked after software update

Hi,

My Essential Digital Home Phone tried to do a software update and when I came back to it the screen was blank and the message light was flickering. Nothing happens when I click any of the buttons. Removing the batteries and putting them back in makes no difference. If I put it on the charging station the message light stops flickering and it says Battery Full Charging on the screen. None of the buttons work at this point either.

Anyone any ideas?

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

It could be that the batteries are no good, as it seems a common issue with this phone.

You can prove this by temporarily swapping the batteries to ordinary alkaline ones, but do not put it on the charger base.

If the phone works with alkaline batteries, then it proves the rechargeable ones are no good, and need replacing.
