Cannot make outgoing calls

I am using digital voice (not a digital voice phone) via a digital adapter. When I make a call all I get is an engaged tone. I can receive calls. Any ideas?

is it possible you have messages on answering machine? try 1571

Thank you but I do not have any messages.

Also when I try to call 1571 I get the engaged tone.

I had exactly the same (With the sound of number unobtainable when just off hook) but switching off the router and back on followed by the same on the adapter for good measure resumed service if that helps

Also try your phone connected directly into the phone socket on the SH2 rather than via the adapter, as there have been instances where the adapter fails .
