I was wondering if I could transfer my deceased mother's phone number to a company who supplies me with a phone line?

Was your mother a BT customer? Is the phone number still active?

Yes phone number still active and she was a BT customer.

How do you know the phone number is active, because if the account is now closed, the number would be ceased?

I assume she was the account holder.
