Missed call message after just one ring

I've tried for hours to solve the problem of my phone missing incoming calls. I see the missed call message after one ring. What can I do please? Thanks

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

Is your phone plugged into the back of the Smart Hub 2, or are you using one of the BT supplied handsets with the dodgy batteries?

Plugged in. I've checked sockets, been through sounds, answer machine, ringtone, settings and everything else in the booklet that came with the phone.

Have you checked that the call is not being answered by 1571?

You can increase the number of rings before 1571 takes the call.

What model of phone are you using?

I have a bt advanced phone Z and have it set to ring 5 times before the answer machine answers but after 1 ring there's a cut off.

Then it must be answer 1571 taking the call.

I assume you are on BT Digital Voice, with the phone base unit phone socket plugged into the phone socket on the back of the BT Smart Hub 2?

Do you have a normal dial tone or is it similar to engaged tone suggesting messages on 1571

Thanks. I'll check 1571 as it doesn't sound like a normal ring. Let's hope my messages are there.

It's like an engaged tone but I've checked 1571 and there's no messages left there.

I'm with shell, soon to be taken over by octopus. But I'm going today to buy another phone as the buttons on this one are now sometimes sticking and the outgoing message echoes. Time to bin this phone! I've had enough of it.

That would indicate an issue with your phone provider, and not the phone. Perhaps its due to the changeover? Try contacting Shell and report an issue. Its probably a fault on the line, or their equipment.
